Start Loving Mondays

Updated: Jan 16

When I first started my coaching practice, I wanted to call it "Stop Hating Mondays."

After all, who doesn't dread the start of the work week, right?

Not having this painful experience every Sunday evening, even feeling numbness or ascetic tolerance instead of despair, seemed a great win. While I was sure that many people would relate, I didn't like the negative spin so I dropped it.

And I am very thankful I did it.

I could not realize back then how short-sighted was the idea.

We got so accustomed to the fact that work must be bad, feeling miserable is acceptable, and salary is there to compensate for our unhappiness.

It took me a long time to deconstruct that idea and learn that settling for survival mode is not enough.

So I want to push you to the next level and start entering the realm where Loving Mondays - or Tuesdays or Fridays - is not only possible but something we should all consider normal and aspire to.

Now, I know that might sound crazy to some. But hear me out.

The key to loving Mondays is to figure out what you're passionate about in your job. I am sure you were very excited when you got the offer, how can you get that feeling back?
  1. Once you know what that is, you can actively look for ways to spend more time doing it. It could be something as simple as rearranging your schedule or asking your boss for more opportunities to work on projects that excite you.

  2. Of course, not every part of your job is going to be sunshine and rainbows. There will always be tasks that you don't enjoy, the usual frogs you eat for breakfast. But that's okay! The important thing is to make sure that those tasks don't take up your entire day. Look for ways to fix the things you don't like, get rid of annoying repetitive tasks over time and ask for help when you need it.

  3. And finally, it's important to disconnect. I know that work can be demanding, but it's important to set boundaries and find ways to relax and recharge outside of the office. Whether it's going for a walk, reading a book, or spending time with loved ones, find something that helps you unwind. Once you do not spend all day and night focusing only on your work, you’ll start to enjoy it more.

So, are you ready to start loving Mondays? Join the movement and let's make the most of every day

Best,

Serena
